Gary Barlow gets a royal grilling over concerts plans24 MAY 2012
He's been hard at work getting everything perfect for the upcoming Diamond Jubilee concert, which is set to take place on June 4.
And when Gary Barlow was tasked with explaining the evening's plans to the Queen, he felt confident he was on top of every last detail.
But the monarch picked up on some ideas that simply hadn't occured to him.
"I said "Your Majesty, this is what the concert's going to look like and it's going to be incredible, and this is where it's going to be, in front of the Palace'," he told Graham Norton on the comedian's chat show.
"And she looked at it and went, 'So all that equipment, how long is it going to take to dismantle it?
"At this point I'm guessing, so I said – about six or seven hours?
So she said, 'The concert finishes at about 10.30 at night, so you'll be doing that all night while my family are staying at the front of the palace?'"
Gary said at that point he broke out in a sweat, and tried to change the subject.
"I said, anyway, moving on Your Majesty – this is the royal box. This is where you'll be sitting. And she said: 'How am I going to get there?'
"Something else I don't know the answer to."
Despite her concerns, the Take That star said the monarch was really looking forward to the gig, which will feature performances from Sir Tom Jones, Dame Shirley Bassey, JLS, Jessie J and Sir Elton John.
"The Queen is absolutely delighted with the whole lineup," he said.
