The full splendour of the cavalry was on display as hundreds of horsemen paraded through the streets of London as dawn broke over the city.
Members of The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment rode from the Palace of Westminster along Whitehall to Buckingham Palace.
The display of pomp and pageantry was a full dress rehearsal ahead of their Diamond Jubilee procession, which brings celebrations to a fittingly regal conclusion on June 5.
The Queen – flanked by 2,000 members of the Armed Forces – will ride along the historic Mall route in the magnificent 1902 State Landau carriage.
Huge crowds are expected to line the streets to get a glimpse of Her Majesty and other senior members of the royal family.
