Diamond Jubilee: Kate supports the Queen at thanksgiving service

05 JUNE 2012

The Duchess of Cambridge has just arrived at St Paul's Cathedral for the service of thanksgiving marking the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. For the deeply religious monarch, Tuesday's ceremony is the centrepiece of the festivities for her long and successful reign.

Reflecting the sovereign's wish to focus the celebrations on the direct line of succession, Kate had the honour of preceding the Queen down the aisle along with two future Kings – her father-in-law Prince Charles and husband Prince William.

The new royal, who has been so warmly embraced by the Windsor family, pulled off her task off with aplomb, taking it all in her stride.

For the second time in this weekend's festivities, the stunning brunette had chosen British fashion house Alexander McQueen, who created her wedding dress.

She was the picture of elegance in a long-sleeved shift dress featuring a lace overlay and tiny ribboned waist. Meanwhile, its dusky pink hue perfectly complemented her tanned skin.

Perched on top of her sophisticated demi-chignon, a signature hairstyle since her wedding, was a floral netted Jane Taylor fascinator in the same shade.
