With concentration written all over his face, the 63-year-old showed off his skills on an indoor climbing wall as youngsters admired the stellar effort.
It's something of a return to form for the action-man prince, who has always been a keen sportsman and was a competitive polo player for 40 years before retiring in 2005.
The heir to the throne took on his latest challenge whilst opening a new gym at Grainville Secondary School in Jersey.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cornwall showed her maternal side as she chatted with the school's young charges.
The pair will spend a day in the picturesque Channel Island as part of a whirlwind Diamond Jubilee tour.
Prince Charles has has visited the islands before, but it is the first time his Duchess has accompanied him there.
After inaugurating Grainville's new facilities, their packed itinerary includes a stop in Royal Square, where they will unveil a granite feature built to mark the Queen's 60 years on the throne.
Later, food lover Camilla will be in her element when the pair meet stallholders at the Central Market.
