Deer dancing and street parties: Belize prepares to welcome Prince Harry

02 MARCH 2012

As Prince Harry packs his bags for his Jubilee Tour of Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas, details have emerged of what awaits him when he steps off the plane.

The destinations were carefully selected to reflect the young royal's spirited, adventurous side and his schedule doesn’t disappoint.

First stop is Belize, which will be the least formal of all the visits.

In a fun-filled tribute to his grandma, the royal will be the star guest at an open-air festival – thrown on a brand new street that Harry will formally name HM Queen Elizabeth II Boulevard.

The party will include a performance by Deer Dancers – a tradition in which indigenous performers dance in full deerskin – and an impressive spread of local food and delicacies.

While in the Central American country, Harry will also pay a visit to the mystic Maya ruins of Xunantunich, accompanied by local children.
